The benefit had been planned for months, and it was finally the night. The downstairs had been revamped, transformed from a lobby and lecture halls into a benefit haven, complete with wet bar, food, and gambling tables. Attendance was expected to be high.

Alan was finally actually starting to feel better. It was a refreshing change from feeling worse, certainly. It was stunning what wonderful things happened when people did their jobs.
